Last year, Porsche Centre Leicester completed the highly intricate, full restoration of a 1986 911 3.2 Turbo Bodied Targa. Together with our recommended body repairer, Chartwell, our fully restored car was the overall winner in the 2014 Porsche Restoration Competition.
This year, Porsche is celebrating '40 years at the front' through its national restoration competition. Porsche Centre Leicester has decided to put our skills to the test once again and restore a classic Porsche 968 Club Sport.
The 1993 968 Club Sport has covered some 87,000 miles in its 22 years and Porsche Centre Leicester is looking forward to returning this car to its former glory and preserving it for the next generation of Porsche enjoyment.
We are now deep into the restoration of this beautiful 968 Club Sport.
The suspension has been meticulously worked on using the very latest restoration and painting techniques to show it in its true former glory. The only parts replaced on the steering and suspension have been the rubber bushes and gaskets.
The body has been fully stripped and all previous repairs made good. The team at Chartwells have been working tirelessly to make the body and interior look fabulous. This is really now starting to take shape and the body work should be completed by the end of April.
The engine and transmission were removed and have been painstakingly stripped, cleaned and re-built. We are now on the home straight of reassembling the engine ready to fit it back in the car. We have replaced all of the seals and gaskets but thankfully the cylinder bores, crankshaft and bearings are in great condition due to the superior level of engineering when originally manufactured.
